Restaurants in Seoul

The Best

Breakfast

USO Canteen (Yong San)

The best breakfast!

Getting there: Sam Gak Ji Station, exit 13. Walk 5 minutes and an American army station will be on your left. Walk through the gate and it'll be in the building on your right.

Lunch

Platters (Dae Hang Ro)

The best place to get a classic burger in Seoul, hands down!

Their classic burger never disappoints and they also have a selection of cheesesteak sandwiches but being from Philly, I stay away from any and all such imitations! We heard that the owner of this establishment has taken meticulous measures to make everything in the restaurant authentic - from the American signs on the wall to the 50s diner style booths (similar to those seen in Back to the Future) to the ingredients of the burgers - Platters is my favorite place to hit for a tasty American burger! Their chili cheese fries are also very yummy as they use real chili (not salsa like most places in Korea)! Since it's not very busy whenever I go with friends, I'm afraid the owner is not turning much of a profit and it may close down one day (as do many short-lived restaurants in this city). But I hope my review has inspired you to pay a visit and if you like, visit frequently and let's keep Platters open for many years to come!

Getting there: Hae Hwa Station, exit 3, make a left down the alley. Walk 2 minutes and it'll be on your right hand side (Family Mart is at left).

Dinner

Sortino's (Itaewon)

Delicious Italian dinner.

Getting there: Itaewon, exit 3. Walk 5 minutes, you'll see a gas station, keep walking and it'll be on your right (2nd floor but the entrance will have a sign saying Sortino's on the street level).

Misses

Suji's (Itaewon)

I've been to this breakfast/brunch place twice and I do not plan to go back. Although it's frequented by many people and receives rave reviews from others, I beg to differ and I'm still trying to figure out what all the fuss is about. The menu prices are very overpriced (waffles are like 15,000 won!!!) and the food isn't very tasty. Suji's has sister restaurants in Japan and elsewhere and they claim to have a distinguished reputation. Personally, I don't know what all the fuss is about. If you want the best breakfast in town at a great price, go to the USO Canteen (see review)!

Getting there: Itaewon Station. Walk 10 minutes til you pass a MacDonald's. Keep walking, it is on the 2nd floor (yellow sign).

Welcome to Deja vu Korea!

We're excited to launch this new web site, which we hope will serve as a portal for foreigners living in Korea or considering coming here for work or study.

Driving Laws in Korea are tricky.

You must be careful crossing the street! Yes!!!
